Environmental Mobilities & Climate Refugees

In a recent research project I focus on the interrelations between migration and the environment. In one study within  this project, I analyze how Darfurian asylum-seekers conceive the environment throughout their migration journey.

Additioanlly, as part of this project Glocal's migration & development track - in collaboration with the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and the Davis Institute for International Relations - organized an international conference on climate mobilities at the Hebrew University (June 2023). This was the first comprehensive academic conference in Israel dedicated to this topic, bringing together sociologists, anthropologists, geographers, economists, political scientists, gender and legal scholars from Israel and abroad. The speakers discussed global aspects of environmental mobility as well as the African and Middle-Eastern contexts, and focused particularly on environmental migration and sustainable development.
